Mandatory Annual Sustainability Training — All Staff
The Campus Sustainability Coordinator delivers mandatory annual training on the environmental and social dimensions of sustainability to all university staff members — ensuring that sustainability awareness reaches every corner of the institution, regardless of role or department.

SDG Integration in Teaching — Faculty Development
UJ's 2025 Sustainability Strategy commits to integrating SDG-related learning outcomes into academic programmes across all faculties. Faculty development workshops equip academic staff with the tools to embed sustainability literacy into their teaching, assessment, and curriculum design.

Ethics & Values Training
Training grounded in the university's ethical values — including diversity, honesty, respect, and fairness — is provided to academic staff, administrative staff, and students across all faculties. This ensures ethical standards are not merely stated but actively practised throughout the institution.

Disability Awareness & Inclusive Practice

EU-Funded Curriculum Development Training
Through participation in Erasmus+ and Tempus projects, UJ faculty and curriculum developers have received training in modernising renewable energy and sustainability education — including online laboratory development, interdisciplinary programme design, and climate policy pedagogy.

The Office of Sustainability invites external partners, community members, and industry stakeholders to collaborate on evidence-based training that contributes to the SDGs and national priorities — positioning UJ as a hub for sustainability knowledge beyond the campus boundary.

EU-Funded Education Projects

The University of Jordan has participated in multiple European Commission-funded education projects under Erasmus+ and Tempus, modernising sustainability and renewable energy curricula in collaboration with European universities.

Developed high-level postgraduate modules on renewable energy and energy efficiency, supporting Jordan's transition to clean energy through advanced academic training.

Developed and accredited a national undergraduate degree programme in renewable energy aligned with the Bologna process. Created online remote laboratories shared across Jordanian universities.

Our Approach

Embedding Sustainability Across All Academic Programmes

Beyond dedicated environmental programmes, the University of Jordan's 2025 Sustainability Strategy commits to integrating SDG-related learning outcomes into 100% of academic programmes by 2030 — ensuring every graduate is equipped with sustainability literacy regardless of their field.

Through the Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) framework, UJ trains faculty, creates interdisciplinary content, and builds a culture of continuous improvement so sustainability education reaches every student on campus.
