The University of Jordan participates in leading international sustainability networks and leads outreach activities across Jordan — spanning Environmental stewardship, Social equity, and Governance accountability.
UJ is embedded in a network of global sustainability alliances — from UN-backed climate campaigns to EU-funded research consortia — each aligned with the University's net-zero and SDG commitments.
UJ's faculties, hospitals, and centres drive sustainability outreach across Environmental, Social, and Governance dimensions. Each project includes context, key figures, and image placeholders for three photos.
UJ participated in the "Protect and Recycle" initiative at the Ajloun Forest Reserve, organised by the Cultural Attaché at the Saudi Embassy in Jordan in collaboration with SABIC, the Amman Chamber of Industry, and the Ahl Al-Balad initiative. The initiative raised public awareness about the safe use of plastic and the importance of preserving forests. Activities included lectures on the environmental heritage of northern Jordan, awareness sessions on recycling, and competitions related to environmental engagement.
Students from the School of Sports Sciences took part in a cleanup initiative in the Ajloun forests in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ajloun Agriculture Directorate. The students cleaned one of the most important ecological destinations in Jordan. The University of Jordan was praised for its efforts; students were hosted at the Ishtafina Forest Station and invited to visit Ajloun Castle afterward.
On the occasion of Arbor Day, the School of Arts launched the "Plant a Tree" initiative led by the Dean and activity supervisors. More than 200 forest trees, including Aleppo pine and cypress trees, were planted adjacent to the Hamdi Manko Center. The initiative raises awareness within the university community about environmental conservation and fosters social responsibility among students, faculty, and staff.
The School of Medicine organised free medical days at the Faqou'ʼ Comprehensive Health Center in Karak and in Jerash Governorate. Clinics covered internal medicine, general surgery, pediatrics, ENT, and obstetrics. Free laboratory tests were conducted and medications were dispensed. Beneficiaries noted these were the first medical days in their towns in several years.
